When will be ready the last day, last month... option?

tyler87 Additional buttons clutter the UI. Keeping the site clear is a constant struggle. Everything we add makes it a little harder to find the things you're looking for. That's why we refrain from adding buttons for things that are already easy to do via the browser's native capabilities. I'm not saying "it's completely out of the question", but for now there are no plans to add this. So far most people seem to been quite okay with how it is.

May have already been added, single click to download or at the least single click to open image in new tab is a n e c e s s a r y feature. Right click to save is tedious. Site will be unusable if this is not updated

Use your middle mouse button to open any link in a new tab. Also I recommend browsing this site with Firefox using this addon(mozilla addons page). You can also use Imagus which is also available for Chrome if you prefer that.

    Gandalf, defurious

    NO

The convenience of 4chan / 4walled even google images (yea they probably do it wrong too) is the ability to navigate and save images without requiring additional extensions that save every f'n image to resort them again later. Gandalf what you're saying is fine if you save less than ten images per visit or search, meaning you have to right click every image ten more times. And Mozilla browsers are way behind now defurious. Yes even waterfox. And no if you use a worthwhile mouse like logitech's g900 you don't waste middle click to only repeat ctrl + click again. Don't need to add a button, just single click to save or open in new tab to ctrl + S or then use an image downloader extension. For as smooth as the rest of the site is and the efficiency of tag navigation why is adding this unthinkable? You will have less traffic if you don't add this feature. Good day

open in new tab to ctrl + S

Hang on, are you actually complaining that you can't use a 3-button combination and have to use press only 2 buttons instead? Do you just love doing inefficiently?

And Mozilla browsers are way behind now

I guess all those times I have to wait for Chrome/Safari/Edge/IE to catch up before I can finally useJS/CSS features that Firefox implemented years ago is just a big illusion.

You will have less traffic if you don't add this feature.

That'll come quite unexpected after 3 years of continuous growth. Pretty sure wallbase didn't have that kind of button either and was doing well without it for several years before us.

This is getting confusing now. Apparently I'm a narrow minded racist because I don't want to add an unnecessary button.

Why do I even bother explaining things to people?

  • 13495

Was it necessary for you to reference an erroneous video? No, but you did. I don't think you've even tested this the way you're talking. This is an image hosting site, nothing else. If you open 20 images in tabs most image downloading extensions don't work. Why not make it easy and follow the format of google and 4chan? Because you're a narrow minded racist Gandalf, that's why, and no ideas but your own shall pass

There is no greater or more important cause than the need to download porn faster and more efficiently. /s

You're probably gonna hate me for stoking this fire even more, but I don't think this implementation has been discussed here before. How about adding one button near the top of the page that turns on a mass selection mode similar to ones you find on Android and iOS these days that makes all left clicks on a wallpaper select them(just like in the Tagging phase of Upload). Add in a hovering, bottom of browser anchored strip with a Selected Items counter, a Download button, and Cancel button. Turning on Select mode either completely disables all thumbnail overlays(favs, resolution, show tags, seen) or just the selected ones, and places a big check mark overlay that dims the entire thumbnail. I'm no dev so I'll leave all the juicy detail up to you guys. I just thought throw in my 2 cents.

defurious this selected items idea ^ is also a great idea and should be implemented but was not Gandalf's idea so good luck with that

Chill, homie. Judging by your 23 hour join date, you haven't been around long enough to be judging Gandalf like that. And might I remind you that the devs work on wallhaven in their free time. This isn't their life so giving them more problems and more work isn't exactly going to be met with much elation, just more gnashing of teeth. He isn't being racist, by the way; you're using that term wrong. As far as I can tell, race never entered this discussion, nor should it. He's just resisting your idea probably because he hasn't envisioned a better way to implement it yet. The mass download concept is, after all, one of the most asked for features here. They probably have it in their development road map somewhere under the section titled "Here Be Dragons". I fully expect him to reject my idea as being too difficult or impossible to implement with the current system in place and maybe shelve it for later, but that's how development is. Despite the name, he's actually not a wizard.

EDIT: I just want to add that this feels somewhat off topic now. The last few posts should've been in its own suggestion thread. Kthx, I'm gonna go back outside.

defurious I've had something similar in mind for staff members. We need some better tools for dealing with large quantities of wallpapers. Once that exists we could make it available for regular users as well (maybe as an opt-in for power users). Using this to allow mass-downloads would require a few additional safeguards to make sure it doesn't get abused. We'd also have to figure out how to collect wallpapers in a .zip on the client side… should be possible but putting it all together will take a while.

Sorry for the confusion and negativity. Keep up the good work. Site is awesome

I assume the safeguards would be anti-spam ones so bots can't overwhelm your system with constant download requests.

That's already an existing problem, so nothing new there. In this particular case I'm more worried about people trying to assemble huge numbers of wallpapers in one .zip, since this would be happening on the client side. So let's say we have a button that allows you to select an entire collection which might contain thousands of wallpapers we can allow someone to try and download all of those at once. It would put considerable strain on our server and on the browser, which would likely crash. The challenge is to figure out a sensible limit so the feature won't cause too much load but is also actually useful.

I know this might interfere with development or when your team decides to go live but shouldn't wallhaven.cc redirect to alpha.wallhaven.cc for ease of use instead of getting the not implemented error. Also, I'd love to see an easy triple screen wallpaper option for ease of use. I feel that would also help push your website for more triple screen wallpapers. I hope I'm posting in the right place.

Thanks for the best wallpaper site on the net!

  • 15437

unreal, there already is a triple screen option. Under the ratio filter 48x9 means triple 16x9 monitors.

I'm really hoping the Color search function will be available sometime in 2018. This feature has been lingering for years now and still hasn't made any progress. Is there some technical reason it still hasn't been pushed forward?
