Broken rule (overly sexual)

I got 23 wallpapers deleted because of "Broken rule (overly sexual)" which were uploaded more than 4 years ago. When I look on the Toplist or the Latest wallpapers section there is a shit ton of wallpapers like mine and these are OK? How? You can delete like 50% of all walls bcoz they are "overly sexual", for real.

Here are mine deleted wallpapers. https://imgur.com/tYVskge https://imgur.com/MZBdHgO https://imgur.com/cHPtUyS

And here are some examples which are very similar to mine.

    https://wallhaven.cc/w/ey78er https://wallhaven.cc/w/zm5g5g https://wallhaven.cc/w/mdwxqm https://wallhaven.cc/w/4368xy

    What's the difference??

How can be there tags like "vulva" or "vagina" and many more. This is not "overly sexual" ??

  • 19899

The only difference is we didn't get around to deleting those yet (notice how they've already been reported).

I'm defining 'overly sexual' as any images that have an emphasis or focus on genitals. The rule is vague and will have a lot of 'gut' reactions in when it gets enforced. It's not that walls containing them (genitals) are banned, but I am going to be more strict about what is considered acceptable.

Wallhaven isn't supposed to be a porn site. If you're looking for that type of content, look elsewhere.

Let me make it more clear! overly sexual = no genital! yeah I know it is stupid! but they removed over 100 NSFW walls of mine, too.

There is still tons of walls to remove with this stupid and dictatorship idea, and whoever is removing walls is deciding completely personal about it, yeah you were looking for difference, this is the answer.

I have a better idea AksumkA, remove the NSFW purity walls completely for good and stop bothering users like us.

I think you need to reconsider about this new issue and I'm not looking for elsewhere man, whenever you say that I feel like an orphan that has nowhere else to go . lol

BTW ,artistic nudity is way different than porn. this is why I choose Wallhaven.

For example, this is not artistic nudity, it is porn and will be removed from Wallhaven.

P]ictures with spread Legs, Vulva, Anus, Closeup of Genitals, Body Fluids and Masturbation are meant. And no user will be treated differently. Many of my uploads have been deleted too.

Wow when did this turn to so PG-13? I thought the rule was no sexual acts that showed genitals. The pictures above seem extremely tame with many of the ones linked above not even having a "focus" on the genitals. They are sort of just there.

Reminds me of how Playboy would airbrush vaginas out

Yeah, it's gotten pretty bad with these nonsensical restrictions. I miss wallbase.

This is a rule I can get behind (even if a few of my uploads are somewhat toeing the line and might get nuked). There's definitely been too much of this stuff at some point and the line needs to be drawn a little lower.

  • 19909

The stricter enforcement mostly has to deal with the unwanted perception that this is becoming a go to porn site rather than a quality wallpaper hosting site. It's probably part of the reason we get bots and such advertising various 18+ websites and such.

  • 19912

I don't know but ain't that difficult to fap to hentai, use your imagination. I actually find it better, more things to do. Leave the hardcore things for the deep web.

BTW, those nsfw pics are horrible. Do you get turn on with these? woot.

    Less pr0n is better.

On a side note, a massive amount of these WP is going to be deleted. I have an issue since i'm browsing wallbase from the oldest WP to the newest ones . I use a bookmark to mark the page I stopped at, but since many WP are deleted, I'm losing track of the page number.

Furthermore, there is no alphanumeric numerotation of WP anymore, so its really hard to find where i was. Would it be possible to have the date/hour of upload displayed on each WP? It would be a more useful info than"3 years ago".

Sure I can still compare with the total number of WP but I would be grateful :)

I don't understand people who have problem with sexual wallpapers. You know you can filter that right? By default, RED NSFW wallpapers aren't even shown...

  • 19941

Me neither. But this Place is first a Wallpaper Site. And when the Hardcore Stuff is erased there will be thousands of great Boobies and Nudies left here...

You can filter out NSFW, but you cannot filter out the really porn ones.

Let's allow people to voice their opinions. As long as the debate remains civil there is no reason to shut it down.

The NSFW category is already using up a large portion of this site and it had been growing at a very slow rate for a long time. There is nothing wrong with NSFW wallpapers in general, but we don't want the site to be dominated by them.

In addition, the Sketchy & NSFW categories now contains a large chunk of photos from regular porn shoots. They have little artistic value and just barely manage to remain within the boundaries of our previous rules. Next to that, genuine fine art shots have become quite hard to find within the Sketchy & NSFW category.

I agree with AksumkA's decision to try and gently move the balance back a little bit.

Thanks for allowing the conversation to continue. I don't know what the other moderator's problem is...

  • 19949

I can understand the standpoint for pornography shots, that's more realistic so there is less room for artistic interpretations.

I believe it would be better to be less vague about the rules and try to be as detailed as possible when stating these rules.

How do people feel about other forms of adult content like doujinshi? I have a small following that asks for some pretty gross shit and I found no better place to organize my work than here, I would hate for my work to be bogging down on the overall content of the site just because it's lewd doujinshi clips.

I'd like that, too. Question is, how do you phrase these rules so they're less vague and still hit the mark?

  • 19951

    Maybe this way:

    Picture allowed:

NSFWYou need to be logged in to view this wallpaper.

    Picture forbidden:

No exposed genitalia, or images from obvious porn shoots? Like a nude image is fine, but the ones like WallpaperManiac said: would be not ok?

For example, this is not artistic nudity, it is porn and will be removed from Wallhaven.

Exactly. Pictures say more than Words.

And it is not the Intention to remove all Nudity. Not at all. A couple of thousand Porn Images less will not mean there is no room for some good Nudity and Sexy Images here.

When I moderated a website and had to make the rules clear on NSFW content what I would do was contribute something that skirted that line myself to show what was and wasn't acceptable for at least one admin and use that a template for how I would engage with the rules that were set before me.

Alternatively, just use whole sentences (if possible) on the deletion and help pages so, "Broken rule (overly sexual)" turns into "We've removed this image because it breaks our rule on overly sexual content (this rule is usually applied to this, that and the other) please click here for further examples and clarification of said rules" that kind of thing.

Just food for thought! I appreciate the discussion.

I completely agree, but I don't think that Suicide Girl images should be removed at all, They're modern Pin up art not porn

  • 19956

Picking out the obvious ones is easy. Defining a boundary is the tough part.

NSFWYou need to be logged in to view this wallpaper.
NSFWYou need to be logged in to view this wallpaper.

The first one easily matches "exposed genitalia". I'd still like to think this one should be safe.

The second one, on the other hand, is about as trashy as they get, including the obvious porn site in the watermark, it just happens to not expose the part society is the most scared of.

BTW using example pictures in our rules is a bad idea. After all we'd want people to be able to read the rules without being forced to view the kind of content we consider beyond limits. The rules page, of all pages, should be safe for work.

  • 19957

Yeah it will be hard to define without examples Like these are obviously amateur porn but don't really break the rules

The problem with this new rule is that it is subject to interpretation, and as long it can be interpreted differently there will be people critisizing the rule or playing with it.

You really should find another wording which can be objectively enforced. (unfortunately I don't have anything to propose).
