how to distinguish an upscale ? any tips ? [sketchy]

hello, after seeing this great photo (from a photographer point of view) :
1440 x 90016
I just uploaded this : [x1x1wo] I'm pretty sure it's not an upscale since the resolutions stop at 1920x1200 & go no higher. though I wonder if you guyz have tips to recognize upscales ?

Actually I think it is an upscale (and a crop of the photographer signature by the way)
- There are more artefacts on the gradients (background and forehead)
- There is aliasing of details (the hairs)
- The details are less crisp (waves)

Thanks so the 1600x900 one is missing from wallbase ...

edit: apparently photographers can put higher res for sale : https://support.500px.com/hc/en-us/articles/205809807-How-can-I-add-a-high-resolution-file-for-sales-

though from a buyer point of view I wonder how to know what you get lol
