Could you added a option to the ratio search to show only images that are more vertical then horizontal and vice versa. This would make it easier to find a wide screen image for a desktop. So like if a you want vertical image these would and would not show up.

1111x1000 would 1000x1111 would not

If you wanted horizontal the reverse would be true.

I like this would be a simple and straight to the point option for users who want widescreen image but dont care if there is slight stretching because it does not match the ratio of there screen perfectly.
