Portrait resolutions are planned, but not smart phone specific ones. We are focused on desktop wallpapers.

wouldn't it be possible to add a 9x16 / 10x16 ratio for vertical pictures and something like Min resolution (which would also be nice to have for desktop wallpapers)

You can actually change the resolution in the link, for example you just press search and get this uri in your browser:

http://alpha.wallhaven.cc/search?categories=111&purity=111&sorting=relevance&order=desc

This will show pictures of any resolution as no resolution is specified, but you can manually add it with the "resolutions=" term

http://alpha.wallhaven.cc/search?categories=111&purity=111&sorting=relevance&order=desc**&resolutions=1080x1920**

I use this method to find wallpapers for my phone, would be a lot easier if they just implemented it though.
