win10 chrome version 45.0.2454.85 m

click once zoom click more than once nothing happens

first click adds fill class to the section with id showcase click >1 doesn't do anything

the img says panning when I hold the mouse down

As far as i understand then it's not really a zoom, it just enlarges the image to it's full resolution. And when the image is smaller than your monitors resolution then it won't enlarge it any further.

Could you link to an example?

Please note, that if the image is already displayed in full resolution the zoom click won't do anything. But you'll still have to click one more time before it zooms out again.

I sometimes experience the same problem, still haven't figured out when it occurs and when not.

I don't know what happened but it works again. [url]http://alpha.wallhaven.cc/wallpaper/259721[/url] is one of the images where I experienced the problem.
