Recently Wallpapers are loading very slowly

I noticed that since (I think) last week, Pictures / Wallpapers are loading kind of (very) slowly.

Now, I don't know if it's on my end or your server having some hickups.

I tried different browser (Firefox, Waterfox, Chrome), tried clearing cache and deactivated addons.

Other webpages do work properly and my internet connection is good as always. I'm surfing from Germany, don't know, if there some kind of regional slow down.

Using a VPN via United States speeds up the loading significantly.

Is there some kind of geo locking active? Am I the only one experiencing this?
