Variety is an open-source wallpaper changer for GNU/Linux systems, in development since 2012 by Peter Levi.
Variety is packed with great features, yet slim and easy to use. It can use local images or automatically download wallpapers from Wallhaven, Flickr, Unsplash and other online sources according to custom search criteria, allows you to rotate them on a regular interval, provides easy ways to select a particular image and separate the great ones from the junk. You can have it apply effects like blurring, brushstrokes, an overlay of wise and funny random quotations or even a nice digital clock embedded in one of the corners. There is also an optional slideshow/screensaver companion application which can even be installed separately, but it integrates nicely when paired with Variety.
